Pre Covid we were delighted to be able to welcome Former Optimist World Champion trainer and optimist sails designer Mauricio Bencic to Palma to give a master class to some keen young optimist sailors. Shown in the video here, this four day event consisted of a theory master class plus lots of practical advice and sessions out on the water.
Participants benefited from personal tuition and learning the secrets of performing like a World Champion. Over four days the youngsters learnt the concepts and tactics of racing an Optimist, the importance of the sail as well as mastering their skills and pushing themselves beyond their expectations. There might be some World Champions of the future in the video. Who knows. We do know there was clearly some great learning, sailing and fun along the way too.
